What is CrossFit?

CrossFit is a core strength and conditioning program, which is empirically driven, clinically tested and community developed. The program was designed to elicit a broad adaptation response.

CrossFit is not a specialized fitness program, but a deliberate attempt to optimize physical competence in each of ten recognized fitness domains. These fitness domains are Cardiovascular & Respiratory endurance, Stamina, Strength, Flexibility, Power, Speed, Coordination, Agility, Balance and Accuracy. The CrossFit program was developed to enhance an individual’s competency at ALL physical tasks.

We train our athletes in gymnastics from rudimentary to advanced movements garnering great capacity at controlling the body both dynamically and statically while maximizing strength to weight ratio and flexibility. We also place a heavy emphasis on Olympic Weightlifting having seen this sports unique ability to control external objects, and mastery of critical motor recruitment patterns. And finally we encourage and assist our athletes to explore a variety of sports as a vehicle to express and apply their fitness.

Is CrossFit for me?

The answer is an emphatic YES!!! Your needs and the Olympic athlete’s differ by degree not kind. Increased power, strength, speed, endurance, stamina, coordination, agility, balance and accuracy are each important to the world’s best athletes and to our grandparents. The amazing truth is that the very same methods that elicit optimal response in the Olympic or professional athlete will optimize the same response in the elderly. Of course we can’t put the same load on your grandmother as an Olympic athlete but both need to squat. In fact, squatting is just one example of a movement that is universally valuable and essential, yet is rarely taught to any but the most advanced athlete.

CrossFit has been able to teach anyone who can care for themselves to perform safely and with maximum efficacy the same movements typically utilized by professional coaches in elite and certainly exclusive environments.

Tip: Constantly vary your workouts and make sure that they are intense!

Throughout my entire life I have always been a physically competitive person and athlete. I have participated in many sports including, soccer, track and field, Tae Kwon Do, basketball, cycling, and triathlons. I have always strived to be the best that I possibly could at any sport in which I participated.

Although winning is great, improvement in personal time or performance was always more important to me. It was the “process of progress” that made me feel like a winner. CrossFit allows me to witness that “process of progress” in myself as well as my athletes.

It is the best feeling to help others achieve fitness goals that were once only unattainable dreams.

I have been involved in sports and fitness for most of my life at some level. I have participated in various sports ranging from football to soccer to swimming as well as working as a personal trainer and high school teacher and football coach.

Like most individuals, I too wanted to get into shape. I went to a typical gym, lifted weights and did cardio. This was what the “norm” had been. There were programs such as P90X, Insanity and many others, but when I found CrossFit, I was hooked instantly. It provided a challenge I have never experienced before, both physically and mentally. I thought I was fit, but quickly learned I had no idea what true fitness was.

The thing that I love most about CrossFit is the camaraderie. Sweating, yelling, trying to push that last rep and having the person who finished first right there next to you pushing you, cheering for you; there is nothing like it.

In CrossFit we are here to safely push your body to its limits and take you further than you thought possible; but MOST importantly we are here to lift you up and build a better you.

I have been a competitive athlete for most of my life.  I enjoyed playing sports such as softball, weightlifting, tennis and running. I have always strived to work hard at my fitness goals.

Several years ago, I started a family and with having four children came weight issues. I started going to the gym and attending group exercise classes. It helped some in weight reduction but was not completely successful. In addition, I tried many fad diets to reduce weight and again found minimal success. I was desperate for the answer to my constant battle.

I had heard of this workout called “CrossFit,” which intrigued me. I started CrossFit and I was hooked with in the first week. The results that I had been looking for began showing shortly after I started. I lost 20 lbs. in the first three months. I felt empowered, confident and strong. After doing CrossFit for several years, I decided to achieve a Level 1 certificate.

My passion is to help athletes to find their inner strength I hope to motivate, encourage and inspire athletes to push themselves beyond what they think is possible. Coachella Valley CrossFit is more than just a place to get a great workout; it is an environment of encouragement, passion and accomplishment. Together let’s make what seems impossible possible.

Tip: Get plenty of rest since most of the post workout recovery occurs while you are sleeping.

Class Schedule:

If you are new to CrossFit and you want to come and see what it’s all about sign up for our on-ramp or unweighted classes before joining the regular CrossFit classes. Learn the foundational movements with a CF-L1 Coach leading the way!!!

Crossfit Veterans (6 months+) and members from other affiliates are welcome to drop in. Just reserve your spot for the time you wish to train. ($20 drop in)

Each class will be led by a CrossFit Level 1 Coach. The structure of each class will consist of a warm up, instructions regarding the movements for the WOD (workout of the day), the WOD itself and a cool down. All WODs are devised by a a licensed Physical Therapist. Our coaches will be there to instruct you throughout the workout and to watch your form to prevent injuries. We encourage you, as well as push you to maximum effort in a safe environment.


What you are receiving for the cost of your membership is highly qualified coaches, who are very knowledgeable of injury prevention, rehabilitation and biomechanics of movement. If you break it down for an unlimited membership for 1 year, 5 days a week its comes out to $6.50 per class. That is a great deal for the benefit of having a licensed Physical Therapist and a CrossFit Level 1 coach at your disposal.
